Fleet week is the weekend when San Francisco gets to enjoy the unforgettable 3 day long air show with best performing United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron Blue Angels as well as many other flight show performers. For example in 2017 air show also included performances of Air Force’s F-22 Raptor, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18, Canadian Snowbirds and, from France, the Breitling Jet Team.
And that’s not all. As a tradition goes, Fleet Week weekend starts with U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard Ship parade. Ship parade however is happening only one day, normally on the Friday of the Fleet Week weekend. Air show happens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The best place to see the air show is from Marina Green Drive or Fisherman’s Wharf. In 2017 we also got to enjoy the parade that went along the Fisherman’s Wharf. You can also get a ticket and watch whole show from the board of one of the cruise boats that also depart from nearby the Pier 39.
Fleet Week Weekend is happening in October, around October 9, which is also the Columbus Day.
